This is the 1st time I have joined in the challenges at Black with 2. This month was Black with Lime and Cream.

Day 2 of our camping holiday and Beau was racing around, not watching where he was going and smashed head first itno a tree. Taking off bark from both the tree and his face. Forever more this tree will be know as Beau's tree!!

Scrap the Girls - Nov 2011 Challenge

November Challenges already???? - OK now that is scary. Less than 50 sleeps to go before the jolly man visits. I haven't even thought about Christmas yet.
This months challenge at Scrap the Girls was to create a girly layout using pink as the main colour, with polka dots and multi photos.

True to me - a simple layout. It's a bit hard to see from the photo but the pp has a light polka dot pattern to it and I have also cut larger polka dots from a coordinating Bo Bunny PP, along with the dots in the stamped heart.

Rainy Day Scrapping

Pupil free day + rain + 3 bored children would normally mean no time for me to scrap. But surprisingly with the help of a couple of DVD's the kids gave me some peace and quiet.
First up was Scrap the Girls October Challenge. The criteria was to use the word "love" and distressing.
Kaleah is at her happiest when she is creating and it doesn't matter where she is or what materials she uses. Here on the beach at Brooms Head she has created "Pebbles" using rocks, sticks and seaweed, along with writing out where we were holidaying.

Then Out of The Hat. Criteria was to use complimentary colour scheme, felt and paper tearing. I have gone with blue and orange, and used the bubble blowing technique to create the background.

Weekend Scrapping

Whilst the cars went round and round at Bathurst, the thunder rumbled along in the distance and the rain couldn't decide whether to fall or not, I managed to make a start on this months challenges around blog land.
First up - White With 1 - Criteria was white with black and paint / mists.
Regan enjoyed his early morning surfs at Brooms Head. He loved that he could just go for surf whenever he wanted whilst we were away. Surfing 4 or 5 times a day takes it's toll and makes for a very tired boy at the end of the day. Early to bed ready to start the next day again at sunrise.

Next was Challenge Heaven - Ebony and Ivory Challenge - Criteria Black or White with Pink and Purple plus lace.

And lastly (and not really happy with this layout) Kraft it Up. The criteria was to use Kraft background with 1 of the following styles - minimilist / monochromatic colour scheme or Romantic, Shabby Chic, Vintage. One would have thought that I would be comfortable with the minimilistic style considering most of my layouts are very basic, but even for me this layout is plain (even after I added the glimmer mist over the tree stencil)

Inspired by the VERY talented Louise Nelson (but doesn't nearly do her justice)I have created my own chipboard element for behind the photo and a strip of muslin under my beads and shells.

Regan and Kaleah had a pupil free day and went to play with friends, Beau was at kindy, so lucky me had a few hours to spare!!

WOW can you believe we are already in June??!! A new month of challenges is now up at Challenge Heaven
This months Ebony and Ivory challenge is to use Black or White with blue and purple. Criteria - use 3 ribbons

It's a bit hard to tell from this photo, but the bling is purple. (Too much rain lately to be able to take the photo.) 1 ribbon on title banner, 1 ribbon tied around pin, and the butterflies are felt ribbon.

To say that I struggled with this one was an understatement. I really didn't have any photos to suit the theme and after completing my 1st attempt, apart from not being happy with the layout anyway, I had used warm colours of yellow and red. But in reality there are no right and wrongs in scrapbooking and you can interpret the challenges any way you like.

Here's hoping my mojo returns soon and I scrap more this month.

Fat Free Cake!!!!! well it is until I fill each piece with a lolly bag for Kaleah's birthday party this weekend. Kaleah and I had fun creating this paper cake and it was so easy to make. Kaleah chose the decorations and colours and she can't wait for her party. Now to bake a real cake.

Shock horror it's a double!! I have hand cut the pp and stitched along the design. A girly page without flowers.

Number Challenge 3 circles / 2 pp's / 1 photo. Criteria Blue title.

I have smeared paint using a plastic card. 2 chipboard circles layered plus a twine circle frame / chipboard clouds have been covered in 2 diff pp's / and 1 photo of Beau doing what he does best - jumping in the deep end.

2011 - Week 5 - 29/1 to 4/2

With such gorgeous weather this week was pretty much spent at the beach. When we weren't at work or school that is. Jaxon had a sleep over on Saturday night, and this week saw us start back with some after school activities. Football training on Tues and Thurs for Regan, Aerobics for Kaleah on Thurs, and Beau started dance classes at kindy.
Sadly though, the weather in Far North Queensland was not as nice - with Cyclon Yasi causing billions of $$$ in damages and widespread destruction. Our thoughts are with everyone there, as they begin their clean up and trying to rebuild their lives.

Rising Waters Flood Appeal

Having been without a computer for the past 2 weeks or so, I am late in getting this up. But if you haven't already heard, and can offer some assistance, your help is always greatly appreciated.

Hi all,
Like most of you I am sitting here watching the TV absolutely devastated at what is going on in Queensland at the moment.
Going through my Facebook news feed is just heart breaking reading about friends being evacuated from their homes and loved ones being stranded and not being able to get home.
Watching the You Tube footage of people that have filmed live is like watching a horror movie.
I just feel so helpless.

So I have decided to organise a 'Memory Gift' blog for the flood victims many of whom have lost everything. Many of them have lost their homes, their businesses and some...their loved ones. They have nothing but the clothes on their backs.
Even when the rain stops and the floods go away there will be the devastating carnage to face and I'd like to think that we, as crafters, can do something that might bring a smile back to their faces and let them know that as Australians we are here to support our own.

I am asking that you scrap a page that will be appropriate to go into a memory album for a family so that all they need to do is add photos. Hopefully they will have friends and family who can supply them with photos as no doubt they will all be lost too.
If you aren't a scrapbooker, don't worry you won't miss out, you could make a card for a family or a small gift that could also be passed on. I'm sure anything you make will be greatly appreciated by the flood victims.

I will keep this blog updated regularly with news of where we are up too and whats happening with the albums and if anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear from you.

2011 - Weeks 2, 3 & 4

Lots to catch up on, since our computer caught a virus and was in the shop getting "debugged" so we were off line for just over 2 weeks. Was really not the best time to be without internet access with all the drama of the floods.
Scott's work is on the Brisbane river and they were evacuated, but thankfully as they are on the widest part of the river were spared any of the devastation.
Sadly though some of his colleagues homes were flooded and they lost everything. The clean up has been a very humbling experience and my heart goes out to all the families affected, both here in QLD and NSW and Vic. Our beautiful country can be cruel sometimes.

The kids are back at school and loving their new teachers and classes.

We spent Australia Day morning on the beach (just for something different)

And sadly I am back to work tomorrow. The plus side is that I am only working 1 day this week then it is the weekend!!!!

2011 - DAY 4

Sadly we were back to work today. But the plus side is it's only a 4 day week.

After work I went to the dentist and came home minus 1 tooth. The tooth that needed root canal, that I had been delaying for over 12 months, flared up last week and was causing me grief. The dentist I saw today said there was no hope of saving it, and root canal therapy would not have done anything, so I am glad I did not waste 000's of $$$$ back then. Still will cost me, once we work out the next step - crowns, bridges, and whatever else she was talking about, that in my haze of fear I did not take in and register what she was saying.

2011 - DAY 3

Well I am off to a good start. Day 3 and I am on track. Only 362 days left!!! Things will slow down now as I am back to work tomorrow.

Not too sure which picture I will use for today. Our 2nd day of sunshine in a row. We were back at the beach - beautiful in the water but absolutely no surf what so ever. More play time in the pool this afternoon, and I even managed to scrap whilst Beau had a sleep.

To kick start the mojo I have usd a Page Maps skech to complete this layout teamed with the gorgeous Theresa Collins pp's, available from Forver Always online store.

2011 - DAY 2

Finally we have sunshine!!
Scott started the day with a visit to the hospital. He hurt his shoulder yesterday when he slipped on the wet driveway when gardening, and as it was still causing him grief he went early to avoid the crowds. Still took him 3 hours and xrays showed no breaks and not dislocated. Possibly a torn muscle.

Afterwards we spent a typical Sunday morning at the beach, then an afternoon relaxing at home by the pool.
I tried to scrap but found myself shuffling papers and not achieving anything.

2011 - 12 Months - 52 Weeks - 365 days

I am going to start - and hopefully even finish !?! - a project for this year. Loosely based around 52 weeks of me (or us) and Project 365, I will create an album for 2011, documenting our everyday life. Hopefully by not committing to everday or even every week I can photograph and record the little things we say and do over the year. There will be some weeks I have plenty of time (or more time than others) and other days when I have absolutely no time at all. But if I commit to it here you can all keep me on track!!!.

DAY 1
Wishing for sunshine.

It is still raining. Feels like we have only had a few sunny days in the past few months.Maybe the sun will break through those grey clouds soon.

We are back from a lovely Christmas with family and friends in Sydney. Never enough time to catch up with everyone, but it was great to spend time with those we did manage to see. And for those we didn't get a chance to catch up with, hopefully next time, and I hope you all had a very happy Christmas and New Year.
Santa spoilt us all, and we are all having fun playing with our new toys, and showing off our bling!!
Looking forward to a happy and healthy 2011. And lots more time to scrap!!

123 December 2010 Challenge

Finally I have scrapped !!!!!! It seems ages since I have had a chance to scrap. Just soooo busy in the lead up to Christmas, as is everyone no doubt.
The criteria for this months 123 challenge was - Tissue Paper / Pink / the word "Oh".
Kaleah being cheeky decorating our tree. She forgets sometimes that Santa is watching and he's making his list. He's gonna find out who's naughty or nice!!!!!

It's Beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Christmas concerts, Award ceremonies, christmas parties, Santa, hanging lights and decorating the tree. I have 3 very excited children, especially Beau. At 3 1/2 he is getting right into it.
(I too am getting into the spirit and have a new blog background.)

Regan received a special award for achieving 100% in his NAPLAN test this year. This is him with his teacher Mrs O'Grady who won Teacher of the Year for the Gold Coast. we were blessed to have her this year.

Kaleah's aerobics concert. She performed to Kylie Minogue's "Looking for an Angel".

Challenge Heaven December 2010

This months challenges are up at Challenge Heaven. Hopefully this month I can complete a few more. Always busy at this time of year, so I hope you find some time to scrap too.

Ebony and Ivory Challenge Black or White with Apricot. criteria - handmade flower

Apricot is not normally a colour I would use, but when I saw this Graphic 45 pp I knew it was perfect for this photo of my nephew, taken at our wedding when he was page boy and holding his mum's bridesmaid bouquet. I have hand cut the roses from the pp and layered them on the page, along with creating some roses and buds using Kaisercraft flowers, by layering and scrunching.

Quote Challenge - Complete this line "A Day at the......" Criteria use ribbon or twine. No surprises that I went with A Day at the Beach.

Collage Art

This month I have been busy creating these collage art pieces from foam and fabric on artist canvas boards. Some are still secrets so I can't show them yet.

I originally made a set of the frogs ages ago as part of DT work for Forever Always, and a friend spied them hanging in Kaleah's room and wanted a set for her daughter.

The next 2 are my Japanese dolls made using fabric from some of Kaleah's old dresses.

Well it's the end of another month, and scrapping wise not very productive.
I can now share my recipe Scrap layout for Forever Always

I did this layout for Kraft it Up at the beginning of the month, but wasn't overly happy with it and didn't get around to photographing until now. The criteria was to use Kraft and decorative edges. Beau on his 1st day of kindy school. He was so excited, and it was impossible to get him to stand still for 1 second.

Time flies

WOW time is really flying heading into the silly season. Sadly scrapping has taken a back seat lately. We are busy at school getting ready for our Art Show and making christmas ornaments for local church. Each class needs to create indivual artworks, plus 2 decorations. I have been helping Regan's class get their artworks and christmas decorations ready, and we are creating them using all natural materials. Bark, dried leaves, seed pods, twigs, shells, sand and whatever else nature can provide. Very environmentally friendly. They look amazing. I must remember to take my camera next week.
I have also been making some quilted ornament balls, and also busy making some other ornaments for our Forever Always handmade Christmas ornament swap.

123 October Challenge

Criteria Green, the Word "GO" and handcut title.

This layout is in the same style as "Calypso Bay" so I could make them into a double layout. Scott, Kaleah, Jack, Marli, Cooper, Regan, Sally and Glen on the Aqua Racer at Wet N Wild April 2010.
I have traced the alphas in reverse on some foam craft sheets then hand cut them using the craft knife and scissors. I had forgotten what a pain that can be, very fiddly, but at least the foam doesn't tear like cardstock or pp can.

The number challenge for this month at Challenge Heaven was to use 1 of everything. Even for me, as a very simple scrapper, I found this one a bit of a struggle. Probably more with the title than anything else. I have used 1 cardstock, 1 pp, 1 photo, 1 word title, 1 alpha, 1 stamp, 1 ticket, 1 button, 1 ribbon, 1 staple, 1 crochet circle, 1 vellum quote, 1 acrylic frame.

The challenge layout you do when your're not doing a challenge!!! I bought these pp's at the end of last month for the colour challenge of Teal and Purple at Challenge Heaven but didn't complete a layout before the end of month deadline. When I finally got a chance to play, I then thought I could use it for Aust Top 50 Oct Technique Challenge. I used the paper punch technique on the layout but got carried away and totally forgot about the other 2 criteria of using lace and staples until after I had finished. I didn't want to change anything on the layout and didn't want it to look like I was adding a bit of lace as an afterthought, so now it is a "just because" layout. The Top 50 challenge will just have to wait.

Not much scrapping for Sept

A pretty quiet month for me scrapping wise in September. We were busy getting ready for our camping holiday and then enjoying spending time together on holidays. It was a very wet camping trip, but thankfully the weather cleared enough for us to get out and about and have fun.

WOW Can you believe it is August??? Where has the year gone?? I have been really busy lately at work, and with my sister in hospital, that sadly srapping took a back seat. These are a few layouts that I have completed recently.

Whale Watching was for July CC at Challenge Heaven. The Challenge was to use the childrens book "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" as inspiration. I have taken the multi coloured title and used some old sticker alphas that were hidden in my stash along with some glimmer mist.

Challenge Heaven Number Challenge - 5 word title, 4 pp's, 3 flowers, 2 stamped images and 1 heart

I wonder if Kaleah reads the journalling on this layout often enough over the coming years will it make our journey through the teenage years any easier??? Probably not, but it's nice to have hope.

Orange is not a colour I use very often at all, and I have gone with the muted tones here - maybe more peaches and cream? than orange and white??
We had a bumper crop of mangoes last summer, and we pigged out on them everyday. Love this photo of Kaleah with mango all around her mouth. mmmmmm delectable.

Regan has the best little footy team. Most have them have been together since their 1st year of u/7 4 years ago. This photo was taken after their last game in 2009. With a couple of new players this season they are still the team to beat.

And here is my layout - the kids camping - Regan is always the 1st asleep. After a busy day surfing, swimming, fishing, bike riding, surfing, playing in the park, rock climbing, surfing, he often struggles to get thru dinner before collapsing at night, ready to do it all again the next day.

Theme Challenge - NEW with mixed alpha title

This layout is Regan with his new board. His 1st fiberglass board. He had well and truly outgrown his foamy and there was no way it would wait until his b'day in Nov to get a new board. He surprised us by getting up 1st go and carving up those waves (we thought it might take him a few goes to get used to the different board, but he proved us wrong). Sadly there has been no surf (not even a ripple) for about a month now and he is itching to get back into the water.

Card Challenge
I have used the mirror mage of the sketch with scraps from previous challenge to make this card for Kara's b'day this week.

I wonder if I can finish some more challenges for a part 3 ?????

Word Challenge - YUM Criteria - scallops and rounded corners.

This is an old photo of Kaleah but I just love that smudge of icecream on her nose. I have cut the pp to slip the photo underneath and also hand cut a parrot and mounted on foam tape for depth. I have also scalloped the border of pp.

Colour Challenge - Red, Yellow, and Blue

In keeping with trying to use old stash I have used the negative from HS chipboard heart and filled the inside with small buttons.

Now off to complete some more challenges!!

Feels Good to be Scrapping

Finally after a couple of months of mojo being on walkabout I have scrapped. Admittedly they are 3 quick, easy layouts that I did in under 2 hours, but that was all the time I had, and very unlike me I actually scrapped with speed.
"It's Tanty Time" was from Challenge Heaven's May CC. The challenge was to use 3 photos, 3 pp's, 3 word title, and 3 diff fonts.

Beau very rarely throws a tantrum (if ever?) and I just had to snap these photos because it looked so funny.

"You Give me Strength" was the monthly sketch from Challenge Heaven.

Not sure how I would survive without Scott. He is my everything. He is certainly getting me through my illness. The BEST husband and the BEST dad.

"The Scream" is a just because layout. Kaleah pulling funny faces at the beach a couple of weeks ago.

Here's hoping I can get back into my scrapping in June. Fingers crossed

This layout "Do You Think" is from Belinda's recipe. A photo of Beau after he got into Kaleah's lipgloss. I am not too sure if there was anywhere else on his body he could have put it!! A 21st photo for sure!!!

It's Been a While

It's been weeks since I have scrapped. Mojo has been AWOL in a BIG way lately. I have pulled out supplies only to sit there blankly wondering what all those papers are for???
Finally yesterday I completed a very quick and easy double layout. Yes, shock horror, a double. But I just had to use most of the photos I took of Kaleah at the beach last weeekend. Our girl cartwheels everywhere - from room to room, into bed, on the Netball court, at danceaerobics, into school. Literally everywhere. I only hope she has enough control to not to cartwheel in class. Well at least her teacher hasn't said anything - yet.
